ABOUT ME

My inspiration came from my creative father, Henry Muoria, (a Kenyan writer and journalist), who taught himself how to sew clothes in order to support his family of seven children in London.  As a child I was the one he called upon to thread the needle of his manual sewing machine.  My most passionate past-time is when I am creating at my sewing machine, I love making beautiful items from gorgeous, magnificent African textiles and other wonderful prints from around the world. I’m often described by those who know me as bubbly, vivacious and colourful. My collection reflects an inspired appreciation for fabrics and prints. Passionate about creating through sewing, lovely everyday bags, make up bags, purses etc., it's always so rewarding when I spot one of my bags whilst I'm out and about. A  I'm gregarious by nature, it's always a great opportunity to talk about my business, meet like minded people and share ideas. I'm a visual person, so drawing inspiration, all the time, from a variety of sources. A keen traveller over the years, my trips include visits to Africa, Europe and America. This is what gives my creations a fresh, eclectic and international look.  I hope to continue to travel as there is so much out there.  I also enjoy making bespoke items.  I enjoy holding Sewing Workshops from time to time. Look out for new dates.

I have a Moko Makwa FRIENDS page which has items made by Sew-far-Sew good and other friends.

Please note that 10% of any of Moko Makwa Creations sales goes to charity.  Thank you - Wangari
